Sponsor: Nicholas Ochanda Campus Auditorium is an online assessment of the accuracy of using technology to improve learning. As an idea, it was developed when students from The Al Noor Secondary Girls School- Bahrain and The University of Nairobi, Kenya converged at the Learning Circle of International Education and Resource Network to promote project-based ideas for improved learning.
Educators and students are able to examine the strength of Information and Communications Technology as an educational method, tool for professional development or for learning with fun
The avalanche of abundance of students converging on internet can share experiences on how to use Map and GIS as a communication tool or enhance the use of technology in educational activities and set technical standards for the universal mind works or use spatial representations in GIS to aggregate diverse student interests and transform the way students view information
Effectiveness of ICT in providing information and making the lessons understood requires that Schools, Universities and Colleges plan effectively to reduce ICT and other education enterprise wide risks that are within their control.
ICT LINKS STUDENTS: Using ICT makes learning fun!
Collaborator: Safiya Mustafa, Bahrain
We've always imagined that we would use technology in learning and now that it comes true I would say that Information communication technology is a strong educational method that enhances the use of technology, therefore learning through using computer is easier and simpler to get the lessons understood and it's also for teachers to create and improve the teaching program and to link studying with fun.
Nowadays, young people are likely to be more at home with technology than most adults. Like other countries, Bahraini students use ICT in sending text messages, surfing the web or use an interactive whiteboard in school, and by the time they reach secondary school the daily use of technology is second nature to many students.
Using technology is an exciting way to learn. It helps us question and discover things for ourselves. It allows us to find out about a wide range of people, communities and cultures that we may not have access to in any other way. Best of all it encourages us to be creative and to work together – and this can achieve better results.
For us being able to use the internet makes project work more interesting! In this project, working with GIS helped us to develop computer literacy, analytical approaches to problem solving, and communication and presentation skills. We were highly involved and excited to learn and investigate this technology. In fact, the use of GIS, which is a technology that combines interactive mapping software and geographic data with our natural curiosity about the world, is a very communicative approach to come in contact with other communities and cultures and learn from them.
And in our beautiful world there are lots of communities that may share some cultural habits or may totally be different from each other because every community has its own specialties, that’s why human beings are interested to know about other societies, because knowing about other cultures is so valuable, and sharing the experiences is a very excellent opportunity to develop our communities through developing ourselves.
